Diversity & Inclusion Department

In honor of Martin Luther King and the Oregon State Bar's Convocation on Equality Diversity Champions, the OSB will display the banners depicting our Champions in the lobby at the Tigard office through the month of January.

"Human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable... Every step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering, and struggle; the tireless exertions and passionate concern of dedicated individuals."

- Martin Luther King

Thank you OSB Diversity Champions for your outstanding, consistent and tireless work to advance diversity and inclusion in our community. Please come to the Tigard Bar Center in January to see our Diversity Champions and learn about their important contributions. On November 4, 2011, more than 400 attorneys, judges, students and community partners attended the Oregon State Bar Diversity Section's Convocation on Equality, a day-long conference that celebrated our successes over the past 10 years and helped us identify strategies for continued progress. To honor past work and encourage and motivate others to carry those efforts forward, the Bar recognized Oregon Lawyers nominated by the community who have contributed to advancing diversity and inclusion to make Oregon an even better place in which to live, practice law and obtain access to justice. If you would like to display the Diversity Champion banners, or learn more about the Diversity Section, including becoming a member, please visit the Diversity Section's websites: http://osbdiversity.homestead.com.

Mission

The mission of the Diversity & Inclusion Department of the Oregon State Bar is to support the mission of the Oregon State Bar: by promoting respect for the rule of law, by improving the quality of legal services, and by increasing access to justice. The Program serves this mission by striving to increase the diversity of the Oregon bench and bar to reflect the diversity of the people of Oregon, by educating attorneys about the cultural richness and diversity of the clients they serve, and by removing barriers to justice.
